How does Hail Pro build a storm lead list?
- Pick the storm. Open the hail map and choose a storm date. Hail Pro draws the swath from radar-estimated maximum hail size (MESH), so you see where hail fell and how large it was, not just where storm reports were phoned in. See how hail maps work.
- Select the area. Draw a polygon, pick ZIP codes or work a whole swath. Every parcel inside comes with its address and boundary.
- Filter to real opportunities. Keep properties hit by hail at or above a size you choose (for example 1.25 inches), built before a given year, with no roofing permit in the last 10 to 15 years, and owner-occupied rather than rented.
- Act on the list. Send reps door to door with the offline mobile app, mail postcards from the same selection, or export the list to your CRM.
Why filter storm leads by roof permit history?
A house inside a hail swath is only a lead if its roof is old enough to be damaged and has not already been replaced. Roof permits answer the second question: if a re-roof permit was issued last year, the homeowner is not your customer for this storm. Hail Pro links building permits from city and county permit offices to each parcel, so "no roofing permit since 2012" becomes a filter instead of a guess. Read more about roof permit history.
Year built (from county assessor records) is the fallback where permit data is thin: a 1998 house with no roof permit on record very likely still has an original or aging roof.
Who uses storm lead lists?
- Storm restoration contractors deciding which neighborhoods to work first after a hail event.
- Roofing sales managers assigning territories to door-knocking teams.
- Marketing teams sending direct mail to homeowners inside a swath.
- Independent roofing sales reps who need their own pipeline.
Frequently asked questions
How quickly do new hail storms show up in Hail Pro?
Hail Pro ingests radar hail data every 30 minutes, so a swath appears while the storm is still moving and is finalized after the storm day ends. Pro and Enterprise plans see recent storms; the Free plan shows hail older than two years.
What hail size should I target for roofing leads?
Many contractors start at 1 inch (quarter size), where damage to older asphalt shingles becomes likely, and prioritize 1.5 inches and up. The right cutoff depends on roof type and age. See what size hail damages a roof.
Can I export storm leads to my CRM?
Yes. Enterprise plans include polygon selection and bulk CSV export, plus integrations. Pro users can work leads directly in Hail Pro on web and mobile.
Does Hail Pro include homeowner contact information?
Owner names and mailing addresses are included on Pro. Phone numbers and emails are available as on-demand lookups that use credits. See property owner data.
