Why does roof permit history matter for storm leads?
After a hail storm, the homes most likely to need a new roof are the ones inside the swath with an old roof. A roof replaced two years ago rarely needs another; one that has not been replaced in 20 years is the best knock. Permit history is the most direct record of when a roof was last replaced; see how to find out how old a roof is.
How do I use it in Hail Pro?
- Open any property to see its roofing permits and the last re-roof date.
- Filter a storm's properties by roof permit history, year built and hail size, then save the list for canvassing or postcards. See storm roofing leads.
- Check which counties have permit data on the roof permits by state pages.
Frequently asked questions
Does no permit mean the roof was never replaced?
Not always. Some re-roofs are done without a permit, some cities do not require one, and older records may not be digitized. Treat a missing permit as a lead to check, alongside year built and what you see on site.
